2015 Natural England (NE) Shell Flat and Lune Deep Site of Community Importance (SCI) - Drop-Down Video Survey
In order to help inform site condition monitoring, Seastar Survey Ltd. were contracted by Natural England to undertake a drop-down video (DDV) survey of the Lune Deep reefs feature with the aim of defining the distribution and extent of any subtidal boulder and/or bedrock reef communities and establishing a baseline for the site against which future condition of these reef sub-features can be assessed. The survey plan was designed to assess the extent and distribution of reef features using a high definition Freshwater Lens Camera System (FLCS). Camera stations were selected using existing acoustic data supplied to Seastar Survey by Natural England. Thirty-nine transects were successfully surveyed.

In order to inform site condition monitoring, Seastar Survey Ltd. were contracted by Natural England to undertake a drop-down camera survey of the Lune Deep feature of the Shell Flat and Lune Deep Site of Community Importance (SCI) in order to define the distribution and extent of any rocky and/or stony reef communities present. Thirty-nine transects were successfully surveyed using a high definition Freshwater Lens Camera System (FLCS). Data were collected, analysed and processed by Seastar Survey Ltd. All data were delivered to Natural England. Deliverables included all raw data (i.e. video files), original analysis spreadsheets, full ESRI ArcGIS (v 9.3.1) project including biotope maps with shapefiles in MESH translated habitat data exchange format, MESH data confidence assessment, Metadata to MEDIN standard (.xml file), Marine Recorder data entry (NBNData and MarineSnapshot files) and a full report detailing methods employed, results and brief discussion.
